Yay for new tricks!!

So while I was at school yesterday, Aaron sent me this video. I didn't see it until I got home though, and when I did was was laughing hysterically and crying - it was scary. :) You have to understand Brighton, he is seriously just a funny little dude! I've never seen another baby like him in all my years. Enjoy watching our cute Boo Boo as he discovers something FUN!

Good Day

Today was a good day, well tonight actually. I went to my nephew, Bowie's, First birthday party(I feel like I wrote that wrong, that was a hard sentence). He is 2 weeks younger than our little Brighty. I have a feeling they are going to be little buddies growing up, and I like the sound of that. Then we came home and Aaron and I battled each other in a little Mario Kart on the Wii before he had to start on his math homework. Boo. We popped in Megamind, which I watched/listened to(actually I mostly zoned it out) while I worked on some school stuff for myself. I had to figure out what the heck I'm doing for my four "looks" I have to create for my photo shoot for the Make Up Artistry program I'm enrolled in at Acaydia School of Aesthetics (AMAZING, I shall post about this later). I'm super excited about these looks, and I'm hopeful they will all turn out the way my mind is imagining them. I've been brewing ideas for a while now, the hard part is deciding which one's to use, and which one's to save for a later time. After this, I wrote an email to someone I consider to be very special. Her name is Jill and her daughter's name is Laci, together they own a company called Jillie Willie. I very much look up to these two people. You need to go onto their site, it's filled with the most lucious and most desirably cute things you'll ever see! They have great style and taste! I felt like I needed to send them an email to tell them about their greatness. :) Hopefully they don't find me to be a weirdie!

Brighton is One

So I want to write down some things about my little Brighty-Boo and what he is doing at this time in his life. He has no teeth yet, which I'm told can be a very positive thing so I'm trying not to stress about it, but it sure does limit the food he can eat. Speaking of food, Bright is the BEST eater! Seriously thus kid will eat anything I put in front of him and also anything I do not put in front of him :). He loves to find "treasures", as we call them, on the floor and pop them in his mouth. This freaks me out, so we r always on the look out. Brighton crawls faster than any other baby I've ever seen! It's amazing! He can take three steps now and then he will dive into my arms. He love to cruise around the house on his walker. He loves opening the cabinets and taking everything out. He really likes the tubaware drawer. He loves playing with measuring cups and banging them on the floor. He loves to snuggle. He loves music, and to dance. He loved to climb. He can say momma, dadda, hi, oh, and wow. He is the happiest baby and loves people. He loves to jabber and use his voice. He is growling all of the time and loves it when you growl back at him. He loves to be chased. He has so much energy, just like his Daddy. He loves to clap and kick his legs when he is happy. And he loves the bath. We love him so much! Can't believe it's already been a year!

One Year Old Birthday FUN!

Okay, so can I just start off by saying that this party was so much fun to plan! It was such an easy theme to roll with and you can find inspiration anywhere! I chose to do a little vintage and a little modern and mix 'em together. I like the way everything turned out, but I would've easily spent a lot more cash and would've liked to add some more detail if I had more time. Please do not judge me for the bad photos, little time & horrible harsh flash! So I tried to antique them a little for your viewing pleasure, not sure if it helped that much.

So I love love love the way His invitation turned out. Believe me or not, this took me the most time. I'd never used Photoshop to do something like this before.

This looked so cute in person. I printed a bunch of pictures from Brighton's first year of life(sigh) and hung some of them around the light fixture. Darling.



The food turned out really cute, we had Cowboy Grub, a.k.a. Baked potatoes with all the fixings, Veggie tray, Chicken nuggets, and Rolls. So yum!

This was one of my favorite things about the whole party, I was so excited about this idea. I received some inspiration on a party blog, and took it in a little bit different direction. I think they turned out so cute. Aaron carried this huge log from right down by the lake up to my parents house(they live right on Utah Lake, but it was still quite the distance-GO Sweety!) and then he called up my Grandpa whom has an amazing Wood Shop at his house and they got the log all chopped up for me. Yay. I made Cake Pops, which were delish! And I also made chocolate mustaches. I got the mold on Amazon for cheap.


Not sure who put Aaron's mustache on one of the spickets, but I like it and I like them.

This is just a cute collage of pictures I put together of our Little Man. My Grandpa Brown made all of the wood frames for Aaron and I for our Wedding for display and I love them. I'm always reusing them.

Cute fire pit we had set up outside. Did we use it, um no, but it was cute.(and I don't know why it's sideways, I fixed it, but it didn't work or something.)

Some might say this was a mean thing to do..., but it was so funny, and I think Brighton might laugh about it later, I hope.

One thing I wanted more than ANYTHING was a Homemade Photo Booth. I wanted to get an old vintage frame OR have Aaron construct a cardboard booth type thing and draw on my own vintage frame with a sharpie, believe me, it would've been rad. But... alas I had no time for this. I also wanted to design a menu of what we were serving for dinner in Photoshop. I would then frame it and display, and make little description cards for each item of food, not that it needed describing-it was pretty self-explanatory, but because it would be cute! So I hope to incorporate these ideas in future parties :). All in all I'm very please with the way it all turned out. We had a really good turn out and Brighton had a great time. My Mom was such a huge help, she let us host the party in her home and she was in the kitchen the entire night. She's the best. Thanks Mom! I love you!

New Pics

This is just a quicky post to say that I posted new pictures on my Photo Blog, www.meganparkesphotos.blogspot.com. Don't worry, I have a few posts to do here shortly so I can get all caught up. I've been slacking lately, but mostly I've just been SUPER busy, but loving every minute of it!

Facebook...

So those of you who know me pretty well have heard me say how much I dislike Facebook. My reasons being:
1. You intend to login and check one thing, and next thing ya know it's two hours later. I think it's a time waster. I believe in spending that "free" time with your family or playing with your kids or doing something productive. Maybe some of you don't have that problem, but it seems that I do.
2. I feel like it's a popularity contest on who has the "hottest" pictures, or who just had the best vacation or did the next best thing. It might just be me because I tend to be a little insecure, especially right now(post baby, haha).

Those are the only two reasons I can think of... I thought I had more. Haha. WELL... so having said that, I am a little more bothered with myself for signing up for an account last night... HA! Retarded, I know. These are my justifying reason for signing up...

1. I have started couponing, and a lot of the deals you can get involve saying you "like" something on Facebook. So I was bummed to be missing out on those deals.
2. I realized I was missing out on connecting with people from my past that I haven't seen in a very long time.
3. Also, I made a New Years Resolution to get more serious about my love for Photography. So I thought that maybe I could get some more customers by having a Facebook account.
