Frustrations Inside
Where to start...
Well yesterday, February 9th was my due date. You all can assume since you have heard "no news" that there is "no news". :) I had my 40 week appt. with my Dr. yesterday & it went ok. They are concerned because I have high blood pressure, which could be a sign of preeclampsia or toxemia. When they took my blood pressure at the Dr. office, it was at 96. My Dr. sent me over to Labor & Delivery so they could monitor my heart rate & take some blood samples. He told Aaron and I that if it didn't get down to the 80's, then they would go ahead and keep me at the hospital to induce me. I was monitered for around an hour, during that time, my heartrate dropped down to 89 for just a minute, then it started climing. I was monitered for an hour, my last two readings had my heartrate at 100. The nurse called my Dr., after the hour was up to see what he wanted to do, but he'd already left the office for the day, so she called the Dr. on call. This Dr. said since my labs (I had blood drawn while i was there as well) came out clear, that I could go home. They put me on bedrest for the night last night & all day today.
They also are having me do this 24 hour urine test. It's awesome... Everytime I pee, I have to collect it in a huge orange jug & I get to keep it on ice in a cooler next to my toilet. Real neat. (They are looking for big amounts of protein in my urine, since this could be another big sign of preeclampsia & toxemia) The only problem I have run into with this, is that I started this process at 4:30 yesterday, and my jug was full at 10:00 this morning... They were supposed to give me two jugs, but didn't. So Aaron gets to run to the hospital to get another one. :)
Mostly I'm frustrated because my Dr. said he'd induce me yesterday if my blood pressure didn't come down, it didn't, so I was expecting to stay at the hospital & get this little man out of me. I was shocked/disappointed when the nurse told me I could go home. It's hard having a Dr. you've never met make big decisions like that for you when you were told something else from your own Dr. I will be running into the same problem this afternoon when I go back to the hospital. I don't go in until 4:30, by the time they are done monitoring me, my Dr. will already be gone for the day. If my labs come out good again, & if my pee comes out good, then I'm guessing they'll send me home again. The happiest thought I have right now, is that I will be induced tomorrow. My Dr. is on call all day tomorrow, so he'll be able to make the decisions about what happens with me. Hopefully this will happen. I'm exhausted, and I'm extremely frustrated. I hope I will have happy news when I go to the hospital this afternoon. We shall see...
